It has been such a busy month. I have completed one internal in stats (Merit!!) and I am in the middle of three others (Biology, English and History). The schedule for dance lessons for the ball are up and according to my calculations it is now only 75 days away.

All of the SGHS year thirteens (The thirteens of '13) are going to Dunedin to see the uni on the thirteenth of may!! I can't wait.

Also the first set of school holidays are about to start, which means a Harry Potter movie marathon, lots of books and even more study.

Have an amazing week ;)

So its been another long, busy week and its getting colder now, although half of the country is in the middle of a drought. I decided since it was especially cold today that I would start reading The Scarlet Letter, although I just finished act four of Othello, and hate reading more that one thing at a time. I also stated to knit a scarf, which is currently 30cm in length (about quarter of the way done!).

School is getting progressively more challenging, but still no where near as difficult as last year, which is great. I have decided to do scholarship English, because it is my best subject and I actually don't mind thought of the extra external exam or learning twice as much in that particular area.

Have an amazing week :)

Shakespear day 2013

Shakespeare day is another tradition of the SGHS year thirteens, we all dress up as people form his plays. Two of my friends and I decided to dress as the three witches from Macbeth.

The school day started as usual; we went to tutor time, then to first period. We headed to the west hall to see a performance of King Lear by The Ugly Shakespeare Company, which was absolutely hilarious.

Mrs Browning (The principle) then came to talk to us about the ball. We now have a date, which is later in the year than normal. I see that as an advantage rather than an issue because I have longer to get ready and buy everything I need, but I still do not have a partner to go with.

After that we paraded around the quad and then finished by having a Shakespearean banquet style lunch and a quiz (which was actually fun).

Here are some pics from the day:

Have an awesome day :)

Sports day!

So this Tuesday was our annual school sports day, which is the one event that can double your house point. Sadly Mansfield went from being second to being third, but I'm not worried because music and drama are our best events.

Sadly we (The year thirteens) missed out on the tradition of having a water fight with the boys high prefects, instead we started the (possible) tradition of doing the Harlem shake in the middle of the track. It hasn't been put on youtube though. We took this picture, and then our last sports day ever was over

You probably cant see me, but I'm in the back.

Here are more pics from the day:

This was my 'costume'.

I spent a lot of time on the back field standing in for my house captain, who was doing competitive sports . It was really cool, but after two hours I owed half of my house lollies.

We also won fashion in the field, which was cool.

Have a great day :)

The dress.

So I finally found THE perfect dress for the 2013 ball . It is absolutely perfect, I love it and it only costs $120 (NZD).

I was randomly on etsy the other day, browsing and I thought that I'd search 'ball dresses', and this beautiful green strapless dress popped up.

I have had an awesome first few days back at school. Actually having a study period makes school life a lot easier and more relaxed, although I did have about four hours of homework last week.

On Saturday I went to Dunedin with a friend, to the butterfly house for the day. As you probably figured by the name of this blog I absolutely love butterflies ( and buzzy bees) so I too about a hundred pics.

This is the blue morpho butterfly, according to legends form South America the butterfly a sprite or fairy in disguise, while others claim that it is a messenger of their prayers to the Gods.

But the Blue Morpho doesn't always represent light and positivity. Some see it as a an evil hypocrite , one myth claims that the morpho takes its enchanting shape in order to lure innocents into the forest, never to be seen again.

They are absolutely beautiful, and I would consider them my favorite.

This is a group of butterflies (various types) eating fruit and sponges soaked in sugar water.

Not sure what type of butterfly this is, but I was lucky enough to have one land on me !!

I had an awesome time. If you are in Dunedin I would highly recomend this. We also went go-carting which was fun, although I gained a bad habbit of going slow on straight bits of the track and speeding up for the corners.

All in all it was a great day, and I can't wait until I move up there (For university).

Have an amazing day :)

So I am finally home from the SGHS year thirteen camp to Pounawea, we had an amazing time doing so much stuff, a lot of the activities were done in our house groups (batten,Gordon, Mansfield, McStay, Trail and Williams). These activities included;

Making rafts, even though my house (Mansfield) only got two barrels while all the others got three (We'll get extra points for being pioneers  guinea pigs)

Doing yoga and tai chi

Having a sand castle competition. The theme for this was 'NZ natives', but we were told that we could put a twist on it, so we made a Tui beer bottle.

This was our inspiration. For those of you who don't know, a Tui is a native New Zealand bird with a small amount of white feathers on their necks. They are black and sing absolutely beautifully.

This is how it turned out. We were all really proud until we came last because it wasn't a native animal.

We also made tiny rafts to float candles down a small river.

Mansfield also came second in making and presenting a skit, and we won the house chant comp.

All in all we had an amazing time, I find it hard to believe that this is our seventh year at high school, but we are definitely not the shy bunch of 11 year olds we were when we started.

Have a great day :)
